Newport Then and Now in Photos

In 2008, the Newport Photographic Club was asked by the Heart of England in Bloom, Newport Committee to produce a display of photographs to show Newport’s Heritage.

This is what they planned:

“We decided to produce a display showing some of the scenes of Newport in a “Then and Now” format, showing the results of changes over the years.

The “Then” images were taken from the “Discovering Shropshire” website and the ” Now” images were taken by Club members. The idea was to match the original photographs as closely as possible.

The dates in the” Then” images were taken from the “Discovering Shropshire” website but many of them are listed as “Circa”.

The display boards and the printing of the images are courtesy of the Defence School of Photography at Cosford to whom we are indebted. We hope that you will then enjoy these images which show how little Newport has changed over the years.
