Mid-Staffordshire and the Coming of the Tudors in 1485

Time: 7.30 pm.
The talk looks at the key events from 1483 onward’s i.e. the unexpected death of Edward IV and the confusion over the succession; Richard III and the possible fate of the two Princes; Henry Tudor in exile in France and the increasing number of former Yorkists who made contact with him; his landing in South Wales in 1485 and his route towards the Midlands (concentrating in particular on his route through Shropshire and Mid-Staffordshire in August 1485). Contacts made locally with the Stanley brothers just before the Battle of Bosworth and possible agreements reached; the principal events of the battle – especially as far as Sir William Stanley and Henry Tudor were concerned.
